As mentioned in my last blog post, the fashion industry is killing our environment, but the only positive aspect about this industry is how we seemed to have invented the concept of thrift shopping. This concept has revolutionized the fashion industry and is considered a necessity and past time in the 20thcentury. Most of us have turned towards thrift stores and have abandoned retail stores, including me!

I do not understand the concept of spending over 100$ on a designer piece and I hate contributing to fast fashion because it pollutes our environment tremendously. So, I turned towards thrifting, which we should all consider when it comes to fashion and thinking about our environment. Finding pieces between 5$-20$ is one of the best perks of thrifting because it does not hurt our credit card when it comes the time to pay. Yes, I am wearing someone else’s clothes, but rather that clothes than not being a use to anyone anymore. Another important concept that we cannot forget is simply donating our clothes to charity for them to give it to the homeless and those who do not necessarily have the money to spend on clothes.

Some of us will want to make a little profit out of this and sell their clothes on the famous app called ‘’PoshMark,’’ which is actually more popular than we might think. However, it seems to be a little more complicated than simply making a big bag of clothes and dropping it off at the closest thrift store or charity bank. We all have our different ways of dealing with clothes that does not fit us anymore and we all look into the best alternative when it comes to getting rid of it! On my side, I usually end up giving my clothes to the Salvation Army, which is the closest thrift store in Griffintown and sometimes I end up seeing my items a couple weeks later on the racks while I shop there. It helps the environment and someone adds a new piece of clothing to their awesome wardrobe, cannot get any better than that!
For those who do not understand the concept of thrifting or have never been to any thrift stores, you are truly missing out because you can find the BEST pieces, or simply find ordinary items that are cheaper than any other retail stores. It is something to add on the list if you have never been thrifting, I personally recommend it 100%!
