The perks of Retail shopping VS Online shopping

I have never been a fan of online shopping, even though everyone does it, I never liked having to wait weeks for something I want now. Fashion has its perks, but I personally hate shopping online for so many reasons and the number one would be the fear of never receiving my package.

On another side, retail stores can sometimes be crazy and annoying to go too, but for those who hate online shopping, just like I do, we do not really have a choice. For example, black Friday and boxing day are now spent at homes because it seems like the sales are so much better online than in actual stores. What has our world become? Everything related to online shopping and social media has taken us apart drastically, but we still continue to support and purchase from companies who do black Friday and boxing day, ridiculous!

A couple months ago, I purchased a bag online, mainly for school and spent about 80$ for the bag. I was very worried and hesitated a couple of times before checking out because I told myself; ‘’what if my package never comes? Who do I talk too? I spent quite a lot of money on this and I am debating on whether or not it will actually come.’’ In fact, I should have listened to myself because I waited weeks, months and my package never arrived. However, I did have a tracking number saying that the package was delivered to my apartment, but nothing. I never got reimbursed and the company took days and weeks to reply to my endless emails. This is why I do not shop online anymore because I have had issues with online shopping more than once and I believe that I am somewhat traumatized!

As mentioned in my last blog post, thrifting has become one of my main ways of shopping because it saves the environment and you can find such nice things, for very cheap! However, if I am looking for something specific, I might go to retail stores on St-Catherine and browse around, but it does not usually happen often. I have found negative aspects of retail shopping, which are mainly that certain stores can become very chaotic and unorganized at times. For example, Zara downtown gives me anxiety because as soon as you walk in on a Saturday afternoon, the store looks like a dump. I understand that the weekends are very busy and sometimes, workers do not have time to place everything back together, but it still looks unorganized as soon as you walk in. So many other stores are similar to this such as, Forever 21 and H&M, who truly have an issue with maintaining their racks of clothes clean and well placed for customers, but you can only do your best at times. Not here to blame anyone, saying that they do not know how to do their job correctly, but this is mainly the reason why I stopped shopping on St-Catherine’s during the weekends, because it is like a Zoo!

In general, many consumers have developed the habit to shop online, because you simply click on something you like, punch in your credit card and address and next thing you know, your package is at the door, while doing all of this in bed. This is not for me, hence the reason why I am sticking to my thrift shopping because I know I will not get screwed over!
